About Shirin
My name is Shirin, and I am an American English tutor with a deep love of language and a genuine commitment to helping students thrive.
I hold an honors degree in English Literature from the University of California San Diego (UCSD). My academic background gives me a strong command of reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication — and I bring all of that to every lesson I teach.

My Approach to English Tutoring:
As an honors graduate in English Literature from the University of California San Diego, I bring both academic depth and genuine passion for the English language to every session. How I Teach:
No two students are alike, and no two lessons should be either. I begin every new student relationship with an honest assessment of where they are and where they want to go. From there, I build a personalized roadmap that evolves as they grow. My sessions weave together three core pillars: literature and reading comprehension, writing and composition, and spoken communication — because true fluency means mastering all three.
A Typical Lesson:
A session with me might open with a close reading of a short text — a news article, a short story, or a poem — to sharpen analytical thinking and vocabulary in context. We then move into a writing or discussion exercise that puts those ideas into practice. Every lesson closes with clear, actionable feedback so students leave knowing exactly what to work on before we meet again.

As a native American English speaker with a literature background, I don't just teach grammar rules — I teach the feel of the language.
