Why Choose CPA

CPA is a great choice if you are looking to take your career to the next level, particularly if you are participating in a work placement program. The institute will allow you to record your summer internship experience towards your training requirement with CPA FastTrack. This means that you will be able to qualify faster with CPA Ireland!

CPA also goes the extra mile for their students and will support you with tailored CV and interview advice during your trainee job search. This will give you the prospects for career and personal development that you deserve at this level of education.

The institute is also globally recognised with members working in over 50 countries around the world. This recognition will stand to you when you eventually earn a qualification that travels with you and holds weight across the globe.

They also allow you to choose between online or classroom study options which is something that really resonates with its students. This means that you can take to the internet to consume the course material in video, audio, and written format.

Over the past few years, we have seen a shift in learning models around the world as a result of this phenomenon. Accelerated by the ongoing pandemic, the amount of resources and courses available to students online continues to increase. With CPA their examinations are also held entirely online.

The skills and competencies that you develop from studying and subsequently practising as an accountant with CPS are invaluable and by no means confined to the networking opportunities that lie within your class of academic peers! It’s important to remember that these people that will be studying alongside you will go on to work in a variety of different careers thereafter.

You will have the opportunity to develop the core accountancy skills that are required in the contemporary workplace and going forward in this digital economy. The course entails a diverse array of modules that touch on important aspects of business.

Throughout your time completing the course and the accompanying examinations you will have successfully attained comprehensive knowledge of crucial Strategy & Leadership skills, Data Analytics, Disruptive Technologies, and awareness of Sustainability.

By choosing to study with CPA you will be presented with a syllabus to instruct your learning and give you a holistic understanding of the subject and the tasks that are performed on a daily basis by a professional. CPAs do this through the provision of core subjects of accounting, audit, tax, and finance that develop your skills and competencies so that they align with what is required of a professional accountant.

CPA Ireland is also quite generous when it comes to granting exemptions to those with prior relevant qualifications. CPA will look at each qualification to try and award the maximum exemptions possible for you.

What exams will you need to complete?

There are three sets of exams that you will need to complete in order to graduate as a qualified accountant with a CPA. This number will vary depending on how much prior academic experience you have in accountancy. Those with no or entry-level knowledge will have to complete all three sets of exams, while those who have studied the subject for years may only need to set the final set of exams.

For those of you that are beginning their education in accountancy from scratch then you will start at the foundation level of the course. The CAP 1 exams are the most elementary exams, but don’t be fooled they are extremely challenging for even the most academic of students. These exams are to be completed during your first year. If you have completed a qualifying course in the realm of business you may be able to find a way around sitting this set of exams through the exemptions provided by CPA.

The next set of exams that you will need to complete are the CAP 2 examinations. Similarly, there are exemptions from sitting this set of exams. The exemptions are given to students who have attained a one year Masters (M. Acc) degree.

The most challenging set of exams are the FAE exams which you will sit in your final year. Not even a masters degree in accounting will get you out of sitting the FAEs, so unfortunately you’ll have to knuckle down and get working if you want to pass and obtain your qualifications. You might want to consider looking at a personal tutor to guide you in your preparations.
