About Henry

I have 4 years' classroom teaching experience (Chinese and French) and well over 1000 hours' (5 years') tutoring experience, teaching a range of subjects from Year 4 to University level.

For 2.5 years I have also worked as an Education Consultant. I provide academic assessment reports, advise families on school selection, accompany families on school tours, organise extra-curricular activities for students and translate marketing material into Mandarin for education agencies.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes. I have also registered with the update service, which means my DBS is always valid.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Chinese with Japanese. I then taught Chinese and French full-time at a secondary school in London for 18 months. Since then, I have been tutoring full-time.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Chinese with Japanese. I then qualified as a secondary school teacher and taught Chinese and French for 4 years. Since then, I have been tutoring full-time and have well over 1000 hours' experience.

I teach a range of subjects but specialise in languages, 11+ and 13+ school entrance exams preparation. I have helped students with their applications to the following top schools: Alleyn’s, Benenden, Charterhouse, Cheltenham Ladies' College, City of London School, Downe House, Eton College, Godolphin, Godolphin & Latymer, Guildford High School for Girls, Harrow, Heathfield, King Edward VI Camp Hill School, King's Canterbury, Latymer Upper, Malborough, Merchant Taylor’s School, North London Collegiate, Putney High, Radley, Rugby, Sevenoaks, South Hampstead High, St Mary’s Ascot, St Paul’s School for Boys, St Paul’s Girls’ School, Wallington County Grammar School, Westminster, Winchester and Wycombe Abbey.

I have the following qualifications:
University of Cambridge: Chinese with Japanese (MA);
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for secondary school teaching (Mandarin and French);
A Levels: Chinese (A*), Japanese (A), Religious Studies (A*) and Economics (A)
11 A*s in the following GCSEs: English Literature, English Language, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Latin and Religious Studies.

- How much do you charge?

It varies on the subject and whether the tuition is in person or online. See individual ad.

- Where do you teach?

I live in Battersea but am willing to travel.

- When are you available?

I tutor full-time so am very flexible, including during school holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach students from Year 4 to University level, depending on the subject. Beyond GCSE, I can teach Chinese and Japanese.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I have extensive experience tutoring online, and tend to use Skype as the means for doing this. I have several alternatives for overseas students such as BOTIM, IMO and Zoom.

I make every session productive and enjoyable, and all my students have hugely benefited from the programmes I have designed for them.

I have the following qualifications:
University of Cambridge: Chinese with Japanese (BA)
A Level: Chinese (A*), Japanese (A), Religious Studies (A*), Economics (A)
11 A*s in the following GCSEs: English Literature, English Language, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Latin, Religious Studies.

- How much do you charge?

£50 per hour, £55 for GCSE, £60 for A Level, £65 for University preparation, £70 for undergraduate level.
I charge £10 extra for any Mandarin tuition up to A Level.

- Where do you teach?

I live in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, but am willing to travel to neighbouring boroughs.

- When are you available?

I am very flexible with timings and school holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach from Year 4 to University level, depending on the subject. Beyond GCSE, I can tutor Chinese, Japanese, Religious Studies and Economics.
