About Siara
Throughout my coursework as well as hands-on experience gathered from in-lab and field research, I have developed mature and confident communication skills as well as competence in the topics at hand. I am well-versed in the following areas: Dissection of preserved organisms, preparation of biological tissues, preparation of chemical solutions for experimental use, proper understanding of measurements, preparation of biological samples for study, proper use of PPE to handle bacterial cultures, pH measurement, buffer preparation, serial dilutions and concentration calculations, identifying tissue structures under a microscope, utilizing Hardy-Weinberg equations to assess allele frequency changes, limits and continuity, rates of change applications of log and exponential functions to growth and decay, differentials and implicit differentiations, linear approximation, proper use of stereo, simple, compound microscopes, micropipetting, proper calibration and use of spectrophotometer, dissection tools, slide preparation and staining, Microsoft Office (Advanced Word, Advanced PowerPoint, Intermediate Excel), use of online databases (PubMed, JSTOR), Adobe Photoshop, statistical analysis using R, data visualization and graphing (Excel), research report writing, gel electrophoresis interpretation (DNA, RNA), protein purification and quantification (BCA assay), DNA/RNA extraction, PCR

I am a passionate fellow student who has taken a wide variety of coursework ranging from AP Environmental Science, AP Human Geography, Anatomy & Physiology, Oceanography, Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, as well as an internship in Biology and an Alternative Energy & Conservation independent Research Project for Credit in High School alone. Currently, in college I have taken Organismal Biology with lab, Cell Biology with lab, as well as Marine Invertebrates with lab.
