About Darcy
- What kind of experience do you have?
I tutored college students in ESL at a local community college in Canada. I also spent 3 years in Japan on the JET programme. After, I taught English for a period of time in Canada. Upon my return to Japan I spent a year with a major ESL school followed by a private ESL company in Tokyo which places native-speaking ESL teachers in local elementary and junior high schools. During both times I also taught many private individual and group lessons in general and business English at language schools and through tutoring services similar to the Tutor Pages. My students ranged from junior and senior high school students to young people in their twenties and thirties, through to businessmen in their forties, all the way to middle-aged and retired people from all different backgrounds, levels, abilities and interests.
I am also a language student myself as I continue to pursue my study of Japanese, French and Spanish and am interested in studying other languages. For these reasons I understand the needs and wants of language students from the perspective of both a student and a teacher.
I have excellent oral and written communication skills. I have been to 3 universities in my lifetime for a total of 7 years and am familiar with the skills and requirements of essay writing and proofreading.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No, I do not.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
No, I do not.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
As I have just registered with the Tutor Pages, I do not currently have any students.
