I am trying to create a comfortable atmosphere for my students in order for them not to feel tested as they are in school or by their lecturers in college. Out of this comfortable athmosphere I am trying to build their confidence to become more and more independent in their approach to Mathematical problems. An essential part of my work is to take away the notion of fear that is still associated with Mathematics for many students
I am a Mathematician with a PhD that has worked for other Grinds companies before where I thought secondary school students as well as having worked as a learning support Tutor and ordinary Tutor in college. For my Tutoring I was awarded the "Tutors Award" based on students feedback in one of the Universities at which I taught. I was given feedback by an abundance of my students that they would not have been able to achieve the grade they did - or in fact to pass the course - if it had not been for my help.
Profile
I am a diligent and conscientious Mathematician seeking a career in an area that uses my transferable skills honed throughout my Doctoral research, namely problem solving, analytical thinking and quantitative reasoning. I have excellent communication skills and enjoy giving presentations and talks. Given my extensive teaching experience I am a very good manager of people and I relish working with others, as evidenced, for example, by my recent collaborative research project. Throughout my extensive Doctoral research I have learned to be adaptable and innovative. These attributes are complemented by my excellent qualifications and by knowledge and expertise in:
Original Mathematical research to Doctoral level (Algebraic Geometry)
In-depth knowledge of Mathematics in many areas, including statistics and probability theory
Published author of a collaborative research article on Bridgeland Stability (Algebraic Geometry) in co-operation with two other researchers from the Freie Universität Berlin
Some experience of Python, R and C++ programming languages (currently upskilling in data programming/coding)
Fluency in German (native speaker), English and Spanish, knowledge of French
A wealth of teaching experience at university level
The ability to construct logical arguments and to comprehend and manipulate highly complex information and ideas
My willingness to upskill and engage in continued professional development
