About the lesson
I am a very experienced tutor, with years of experience and training in teaching at one of the world's leading educational institution - the University of Oxford.
I have been working as a private tutor for school-age tutees for almost two years now, both helping students who have been finding schoolwork a challenge and need a little extra help getting to grips with topics, and those at the highest levels who want to speak with someone more qualified than their school teachers so that they know how to reach the highest grades in exams, to prepare for university applications and entrance (especially for Oxbridge - I have degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge), or simply to discuss topics to sharpen their interest and knowledge of a subject.
I have a great personal interest in the subjects I teach and my favourite lessons are those in which I can connect with tutees in a way that we can both find interesting or even enjoyable. I always work to try to find the approach with which the individual tutee might best be able to engage in tutoring, using, for example, humour, or a visual approach using tailored mnemonics or other aids to learning.

I have years of experience of teaching at both school and university level.
I began tutoring at the University of Oxford during my doctoral studies in January 2012. I have years of experience tutoring at Oxford, which I found a very enjoyable change from more solitary doctoral research work. I was appointed a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Oxford, with responsibility for the Politics tutoring of a whole year of students at an Oxford college, and I completed a year-long teaching course at Oxford's Learning Institute to become a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
I have been tutoring secondary-school age children in a range of subjects (including History, English, Politics, Philosophy and Economics) for GCSE, AS, A level, International Baccalaureate, university entrance (including Oxbridge applications) since January 2016 in London, as well as (via Skype) with pupils in continental Europe and China.
I myself have an excellent academic record. I received straight A*s at GCSE in 2004-5, straight As at AS and A level in 2005-7 (this was before the introduction of A* grades at AS/A-level), went on to receive a 2.1 in BA History & Politics at Oxford, a Distinction in my MPhil degree at Cambridge, and began my DPhil degree at Nuffield College, Oxford, one of the leading centres of social-science work in the world.
