About the lesson
In private classes, I like to focus on whatever a student's goals and desires are. I think the target language should be used to tell real-life stories or to share true opinions whenever possible, since this helps students retain new constructions and vocabulary better than grammar exercises. If students are preparing for exams, I like to coach them through mock exams and share test-taking techniques with them. Whenever possible, I like to minimize "teacher talk" and give students more opportunities to speak.
