About Profesora

Upon graduation, I taught K-8 at Winfield School in Winfield, New Jersey and at Cresskill Merritt Elementary, Middle and High School in Cresskill, New Jersey. I tutored (private and academy) and taught after-school programs in various schools in Bergen County. I also taught ESL for 12 years, abroad and in the United States, to children and to adults. As of now, I teach Middle school level 1 and 2 and tutor online at the high school level. I have also taught elementary math upon request from administration. Currently, I am working as a foreign language teacher for the Hillsborough Charter School educational system and Rosetta Stone, along with private and public tutoring. I have experience in both in-person and virtual learning/teaching.

I have received a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in research at Western Governors University and a second Masters in Spanish at the University of South Florida.

About the lesson

Effectivity and interconnectivity are pivotal in developing a natural flow within the classroom, the lesson and/or instruction, and especially within the students’ cognitive development and skill set when learning a foreign language. Therefore, it is my job to provide my students with well thought-out plans and activities so that they can take advantage of every opportunity they have to learn Spanish.
Along-side with Problem/Project-Based Learning and the use of technology, I implement differentiated and integrated instruction, where students apply their own particular language skills within other disciplines as well such as math, physical education, science, etc.

Another part of my lessons is the full immersion method of learning. I am a true believer that in order for someone to learn a language, that person must be immersed in it. Therefore, when someone comes into my classroom, the first thing they can expect, and notice is that I am speaking in Spanish one hundred percent of the time when I direct myself to my students and ninety percent of the time when I am giving instruction.
