About James

My name is James and I have played guitar for over 20 years. In that time, I have learnt to play and understand different genres of music and I find that playing guitar is an ongoing learning experience. I want to teach guitar and share my knowledge of guitar playing and help anyone learning to play.

About the lesson

At the start of the lesson, I assess the student’s current level of guitar playing. This includes checking fundamentals such as posture, hand positioning, chord knowledge, rhythm, picking technique, and overall musical understanding. This helps me determine exactly where the student is and what they need next. Once I know their level, we focus on developing core techniques—such as chord transitions, scales, strumming patterns, fingerpicking, or posture corrections. At the end of the lesson, we review what the student learned and create a simple, achievable practice plan for the week. Students can ask questions or clarify anything they’re unsure about. My lessons are for any level of guitarist, from total beginner to intermediate.
