About the lesson
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach all Science subjects to all academic levels up to undergraduate levels. I also offer Prexamination Packages and Summer Tuition Packages - please contact me for more details.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a qualified and practising Pharmaceutical Chemist.
- How much do you charge?
The cost of a session is wholly dependent on the needs of the student, and can be negotiated. However, most sessions cost from £20 per hour for GCSE level and from £25 per hour for A-Level subjects. All students receive an individualised package, which can be agreed with their parents prior to any teaching session. Iam happy to cover most North East areas (Gateshead, Newcastle and Sunderland), however there may be a further increase in the session cost depending on travelling times.
- Where do you teach?
I prefer to teach at the home of the student. In most cases this is the preferred location for parents, and younger students respond better to being taught in their own home environment.
- When are you available?
I am available to teach most evenings, but I can teach at weekends if this is required. I normally try to teach through school holidays, and can be flexible closer to exam times, when students require a schedule change or extra sessions.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach all age groups and I am happy to teach all levels up to undergraduate level.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to tutor online for those students who have been unlucky enough not to locate a tutor in their area, where it would be too far for me to travel. Please contact me for further details.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
You can never start too early with revision, whether this is reading into your subject, tackling questions or worked examples. All of this will give you an understanding of your ability of the subject. Remembering to spend more time on the topics you understand least and build up your knowledge base. All students need help from time to time, and I would recommend booking a Tutor, even if it was for just one session as this builds confidence in the subject. If general revision or sessions are needed, get together a few friends and book a session together. The success rate of 1-2-1 Tuition is higher than a classroom environment where a student is experiencing difficulties in any subject. Always try to select a Tutor with experience as they will have a better understanding of the subject and will have engaged students with similar issues as yourself previously, and are therefore more likely to be able to assist you.
