About the lesson
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach any Humanities subjects - including English Literature and Language. I can also teach sociology up to A-Level.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently an undergraduate student completing my second year at the University of Manchester doing a BA (hons) in History with Sociology.
At A-level I did English Lit (B) History (A) Sociology (A) and General studies (B), I also did a general certificate in RE, and Geography up to AS Level.
- How much do you charge?
I charge between 10 and 15 pounds. If I am travelling quite far then I may add an extra pound or two, to cover mileage
- Where do you teach?
A public library is usually the best place; lots of resources and peace and quiet! Having said this, I am willing to go to students' homes, if it is quiet enough to learn.
- When are you available?
I can be flexible - weekends, evenings and some daytimes.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from KS2 to GCSE level. I can also help with some aspects of A-Level, such as essay writing.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to either tutor via email - I will email assignments, you email them back and I'll give feedback. Or via Skype / Windows live if you would like a proper chat - prices will vary for this method as it involves no travel and they will probably be shorter sessions.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Exams are the most stressful time of the year. Having a tutor even just to proof-read work can ease the pressure!

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, several in fact. The last one was with Bury council for March 2008, which I am happy to photocopy for anybody who wishes to see it.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I also have training from the UFA in learning to learn, and have undertaken teaching placements within schools.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I work for Playing for Success, a study centre to boost literacy, ICT and numeracy for 10-14 year olds.
