- What kind of experience do you have?
I have a Mathematics A Level and am confident in teaching the subject up to GCSE level. As part of my MSc I took a biomechanics module, which updated my skills and knowledge in the areas of forces, vectors and trigonometry. I am working through the Kumon mathematics programme with my son, who at the age of nine is competent with Year seven level Maths.
My background is as a clinician and clinical teacher of Orthoptics, having ten years experience in teaching undergraduate Orthoptic students from Liverpool and Glasgow Caledonian Universities. This involved both Orthoptic clinical skills and the academic framework to these skills and was taught either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. I was also involved in providing CPD to health visitors, school health advisors, nurses and other health and education professionals.
I have over twenty years experience working as a specialist clinician in a specific learning difficulties clinic. My work with both students and younger children with specific learning difficulties was tailored to diagnose and organise help and tuition appropriate to an individual's specific difficulties. I lectured widely on this subject at local, national and international level.
