I have never been a tutor before, BUT I am fresh from undergrad and I am still in school on a masters program in hopes of achieving a Ph.D. Although I may not be experienced as a tutor, I am very passionate about history in general and can help in a variety of ways to best fit your needs. I am quick to adapt to change. I was never good at standardized tests myself, but I plan to make my lessons coincide with your personal needs and adapt to the way that you learn.
I can teach at the basic level all the way up to Undergrad and will asses as necessary. I plan to make lessons accordingly and will use pictures, primary and secondary sources as well as any relevant information that I am currently studying. I would like to adapt lesson plans to include field trips to museums within the city and I have access to multiple libraries and archives available to the student.
I can not only help the student to grasp the concepts needed for examinations, but I can also help with the organization and developments of essays. With a minor in English literature, I have graded my fair share of peer essays and I can say, whole heartedly, that I helped others boost their grades. I can help you decipher primary sources and analyze the source to gain the best argument.
Students will not have to pay a travel fee if we are to visit a Museum, Archive, Library, ect.

Coming from a science background, I have never been good with dates or timelines. But in the time I have known Alexis, I have really come to appreciate her natural aptitude for history and her enthusiasm for the topic. If you're struggling to keep things straight, or need some historical event re-capped/explained to you, she will always take the time to explain those concepts to you. Alexis is very patient and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a history tutor.
She is very knowledgable on a wide array of topics. Her passion shows when talking or explaining history, especially the modern period. Her love for the subject really helps you understand and remember everything that is happening. I would definitely recommend.
Alexis is dependable and always follows-through on what she says she will do, including assisting in memorizing, understanding, and analyzing assignments and readings. Her passion for history makes her tutoring sessions enjoyable because she values the content and the history and truly wants to share it with her students and mentees.
