I am currently completing my BA (Hons) Education degree and have been working in placement throughout my course. |At present, I am working in Key Stage 2 and have a current and valid DBS check. I enjoy working with children of all ages and take pride in being able to assist in a child's learning and holistic development. I have children and therefore, plenty of experience on assisting academically and supporting learning. I enjoy meeting new people and making an impact on children's lives. I am able to teach any subjects over the Primary Curriculum, but enjoy English, therefore, have opted for this subject as the priority.
I will be looking to tutor primary level children ranging from the foundation stage to Key stage 2, with my preference being in Key stage 2. I am able to implement the National Curriculum and prepare and plan lessons accordingly. I am an honest, hard working individual who enjoys spending time with family and friends. I enjoy reading on new topics with English being my favourite subject. I am punctual, reliable and manage my time well, as I am currently studying and looking after my family, I can prioritise my work efficiently.
I have been teaching my children and friends' children occasionally in Stoke. However, recently I have not taught due to family commitments. The pupils taught were not at an assessment age; they were in the foundation stage, where no formal tests were carried out in school. However, I planned the lessons and conducted tests according to the EYFS and National Curriculum.
If travelling required by me, then additional £5 will be charged to cover travel costs. The venue will be agreed with client.
I studied my first year of university at Staffordshire University in Early Childhood Studies to level 4 which is equivalent to HLTA. Also during my studies I gained experience by attending a primary school and worked with children in Key Stage 1. During my placement at the school, I made note of how different teachers' differing attitudes affect children in different ways. I also observed and took part in activities in small groups including phonics, numeracy, literacy and guided reading and listened to children read individually and also read stories to the whole class a couple of times. I also considered if I was in a certain position how I would help remove any barriers in children's learning.
I have gained an in depth knowledge on effective multi-agency working during my studies and had an opportunity to apply this in the classroom. I gave feedback to the teacher after each activity and suggestions which she found very useful in planning the next activities.
I also observed areas which the teachers were taking into consideration from the EYFS 2008 and 2012 and National Curriculum and which could be changed also referring to the EPPE project, SEN Code of Practice 2001, Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children's Workforce, as well as looking at the 5 areas of Every Child Matters 2003. After observation at placement, I made a report of areas that were carried out and practiced and certain areas that I may have considered. My placement supervisor gave a positive feedback about the work I carried out as well as my tutor.
Due to family circumstances, I continued to study with the Open University, after which I have now gained a Diploma in HE. At the Open University I studied an English Language module and have also studied English Language in my A Levels. I am currently studying to complete my BA (Hons) degree in Education with MMU. At the moment, I am attending a primary school carrying out my placement in year 5, working in Key Stage 2.
