About the lesson
The methodologies of collaborative learning and talk and discussion are
core in my classroom. All young people are stimulated by hearing the ideas and opinions of
others and the implementation of collaborative learning in the form of pair and group work
allows young people to not only learn from one and other and to voice their own opinions and
ideas in a safe classroom environment. I also implement a guided and unguided methodology
in my classroom where I assist and or leave the students in developing their own independent
problem-solving skills with the guidance of an educator.
Assessment and feedback are also a significant part of my teaching style. I feel positive
formative assessment, paired with praise, encourages and motivates students whilst creating a
positive classroom environment. Self-assessment and peer-assessment is vital to allow
students to strive for a more advanced and deeper understanding of the subject matter, skills,
and processes. It also allows the students to reflect on their own learning. These styles of
assessment are central to my teaching.

I am a qualified Business and Accounting post-primary teacher with experience teaching 1st to 6th years. I have experience as a college Accounting Tutor and I am currently completing a Masters in Accounting, with experience in a multi-national accountancy firm.
