About the lesson
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French, Spanish, Italian at GCSE AS/A2 and International Baccalaureate level. I teach Latin for GCSE, and Italian at University level.
My professional translation services are in Italian/ Spanish/ English and are in the fields of Business, Law, Commercial Medicine and Technical.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Laurea (Italian degree) in French and English Language, Literature and Spanish Language (Venice 1995);
Dottore in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Venice 2000);
PGCE French and Spanish (Wales 2001).
- How much do you charge?
For GCSE, AS/A2 and IB private tuition and online I charge £25/hour.
For conversation I charge £15/hour.
For translation I charge £25 per page.
For proofreading in Italian (subject to length of text) I charge £10/hour.
For MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) follow up, all levels and skills, for students who find MFL rather challenging!
- Where do you teach?
I teach either at home or at the student's home. I am happy to travel 20 miles from Exeter.
- When are you available?
During term times: evenings and Saturday early afternoon.
During school holidays: from 8am to 8pm.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and GCSE, AS, A2, IB and University levels.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I agree a textbook and prepare weekly programmes of 4 hours' self study. During the online sessions we check progress, grammar explanations and oral exercises. Students' queries can sometimes be answered by email previous to/after the session.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I do admire your initiative to study a foreign language. Your effort will be rewarded in confidence, proficiency and a far greater awareness of people and other cultures. It is easier than you think. Is that a smile? I hope so: this is FUN.
