About Joanne
I have taught Irish Fiddle and violin since 2005 both at music schools and privately in the UK and Ireland. Ideally, I like to bring my individual students together to enjoy the social aspects of music making, and learn by ear in person. I have organised some masterclasses given by other visiting expert fiddle players.

I tailor individual lessons to the specific interests and skills of my students. I believe that anyone of any age can learn as long as they have persistentance and inspiration. I like to give a rounded approach in order to build up skills in supporting areas for example ear training, reading music, finding a comfortable hold and providing group playing experience with other musicians if wanted.

I had lessons from Joanne in early 2020, before the first Coronavirus shutdown. She is a classically trained violinist with great technique, but I went to her for specific training in traditional music style. I was extremely satisfied with the outcome, a new reel set which I now play regularly. Her knowledge of this style, and style tips she gave me, helped enormously. Above all, her patience, her willingness to spend time analysing and correcting my mistakes and weaknesses, contributed greatly to my enjoyment of lessons with her and improvement of my violin technique.
I strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a great violin teacher.
