About Beth

Arriving back to the UK after being an ESOL teacher at Milton Idiomas language school in Seville, Spain, I have a DipHE in English, an A in A-Level English Literature, and an A in both GCSE Enlish Language and English Literature. In Spain I taught a variety of classes, including A2 young learners and preparing older students for the Cambridge English exams. Before this, I was also a volunteer IELTS/ESOL tutor in Liverpool for over a year. I have experience in tutoring both one-on-one and in groups, as I help organise a bi-weekly language meetup in Liverpool City Centre where we provide both English and Korean grammar lessons and organise English conversation classes to members of various nationalities and backgrounds. I am comfortable offering classes at any level of English proficiency.

About the lesson

I have a friendly approach to tutoring, believing that the best way to learn anything is through having fun in an environment my students feel comfortable enough to make mistakes in. A mistake is just another learning opportunity after all! I have experience in both one-on-one and group tutoring, and I am comfortable offering classes at any level of English proficiency. I have most experience using the Cambridge course textbooks in particular, but have also taught the Trinity course too. I use a variety of resources to keep things exciting, including textbooks, music, video, tv dramas, film, interactive websites, and more! I like to encourage a high amount of student talking time during lessons to build oral skills alongside grammar and vocabulary acquisition. This is especially true for conversation classes during which I have a wide range of role play materials and carefully choose contexts relevant to each student's age and language level - frequent role play and practice conversation with feedback and correction ensures that the student is able to communicate in real life situations, not just studying to pass exams.

Cancellation policy: If you need to cancel a lesson for whatever reason, that's absolutely okay! Life happens and you are well within your right to do so. However, please do give me at least 24 hours notice. If I'm given less than 24 hours notice, I kindly ask for half payment of the fees (£7.50) to cover the time I've set aside in my day to prepare your lesson and/or travel to you. If I'm given less than 2 hours notice, then I ask for payment in full. Thank you for your understanding!
