Geography can be a tricky subject to study at any level. It's a mix of practical elements and theoretical elements. This means that students are more likely to find something tricky in this subject as it examines a wider range of skills compared to other subjects. This also means that students have to be smarter and more strategic when they study Geography. Breaking down each topic and the required knowledge for each chapter is a great way to start. From there you can self-evaluate and look at what needs the most work, if you notice an imbalance between the theory and the practical skills then it might be time to focus on certain elements of the syllabus. A great way of doing this is with a tutor as a normal teacher might not have the time in class to sufficiently help you with your specific personal problems.
Geography grinds have a clear advantage over traditional classes. Geography tutors have a lot more flexibility in their approaches and aren’t required to teach the entire syllabus. They act a lot more like a scalpel whereas a normal teacher can be more accurately described as a GP. Geography grinds are better for a number of other reasons as well. Tutors will be able to identify problem areas for you and will actually be able to design different strategies and plans to help you long term in dealing with these difficulties. However, a key necessary element for that to work is a good relationship. Tutors are excellent for forming more effective and relaxed atmospheres than a stuffy school and most tutors are filled with an actual passion and desire to teach which all contribute to a better learning environment. When you’re happy and relaxed in a lesson you’re more able and willing to learn and hopefully you may even begin to like the subject more!
The cost of living is high in Ireland and despite education being nominally free, we all know there are a lot of expenses when it comes to bringing a child through education. There are school books, trips, stationery, clothes and so much more to the point it’s shocking how much it can all add up. However, this doesn’t mean geography grinds should be out of reach. Superprof strives to provide affordable private lessons to make sure no child misses out. Prices range across the platform but due to the large amount of Geography tutors on Superprof, you will find all sorts of prices. They can be as little as €12 euro an hour to over €30. It all depends on the tutor’s experience, qualifications and well ultimately the price is up to them. We do make it easy to find lessons within your budget though, simply put in a search for Geography grinds and Superprof will help you easily apply a price range to show only tutors within your budget. All of this is designed to make sure you only spend as much as you need to.
Geography is no longer mandatory for the Junior Cert but the Leaving Cert can be seen as a slight expansion of the Junior cert material, you are essentially looking at the same things but more in-depth. However, the biggest difference between the Junior Cert and the Leaving Cert is definitely the “Geographical Field Investigation”. This is the big practical subject every Leaving Cert student will do. Usually, as a class, you will visit a waterfall, river, cliff face or any natural feature that you’ve studied in Geography and then you’ll make a report on it. Luckily, in Ireland we are surrounded by beautiful natural features but if you’re struggling to write the actual report after the visit, why not recruit the help of an online Geography tutor? They will already have done their own back in the day and they know exactly what the markers will be expecting. This online tutor will be able to ensure your report is handed in well on time and that it is of high quality, allowing you to worry about one less thing!
