About Andrew Afton

Hello,

My passion for education started with my baccalaureate in English and as a tutor for my college's Student Success department.

Flash-forward; now I have almost ten years of experience in education, research, and learning. I have a Masters degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology and a PhD(c) in Global Leadership and Organizational Management. I earned these degrees in the top ranks of my graduating classes, earning a 4.0 GPA with each degree. I was inducted into Golden Key Club, an honor only given to the top 10% of graduates in the school, while completing my MA, and I was the first PhD student to earn association with Alpha Chi Honor Society at my doctoral institution--also for my top ranking GPA. I have been honored as a Junior Research Scholar by the International Leadership Association which led to an internship with their Education Academy. I was also a member of the 2013 Masie's Learning! Top 30 Under 30 in the Learning Industry that led to an event planning leadership position with the organization the next year--helping to develop the new cohort of learning leaders. I am an active reviewer for the Online Learning Consortium and International Leadership Association and an internationally published researcher in the field of technology driven education and administration. I have served as an instructor of information technology and an assistant professor for management and leadership and have taught English as a second language to Chinese students and Korean business professionals. I have project and policy development and management experience, human resource experience, and marketing experience at the executive level of the college institution. I have served as a technology content administrator, director of online programs, and associate VP for online and distance education. In addition to my education experience, I have worked in community engagement and outreach for an organization that focuses on youth and drug rehabilitation.
