About Tori

I am a PhD researcher in the School of Art History at the University of St. Andrews. My areas of research expertise include the early modern period, Enlightenment France and Great Britain, architectural history, the genres of portraiture, natural history illustration, and history painting, and women artists. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy Analysis and International Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and a Master's degree in Art History from the University of Washington in Seattle. As an art historian I have worked as book editor as well as in a museum curatorial context. I have served as a tutor for the following undergraduate courses: Chinese Art And Archaeology: Neolithic To Han Dynasty Survey of Western Art (Modern) Arts of Imperial China Survey of Native Art of the Pacific Northwest Coast Chinese Art and Visual Culture French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism Topics in Art History: Pablo Picasso Impressionism and Post-Impressionism Parisian Architecture Arts of Imperial China Themes and Topics in Art History: Art Now American Architecture Through an Ecological Lens Global History of Architecture I am currently a tutorial instructor at the University of St. Andrews for the modules Art in Europe and Beyond to 1600 and Art in Europe in Beyond, 1600-1800 in the School of Art History.

About the lesson

Having tutored for the past several years in a variety of undergraduate art history courses, I will bring an adaptable approach to each session as we craft strategies together for how to tackle your goals most effectively. In my teaching I focus most on adding greater polish to written assignments, developing ideas for greater analytical depth, and stimulating critical thinking.
