About Beth
I gained 6 A*s, 4 As at GCSE level and A*A*A at A level. I have taught my younger brother and sister (ages 6 and 7) during the summer, and have experience teaching children with mental health issues and disabilities.
I have volunteered in Scottish schools to promote higher education and to motivate students from disadvantaged backgrounds to strive for educational excellence. I myself come from such a background and wish to help other students in similar situations by offering my services for an affordable price.

I like to get to know the national curriculum/ GCSE/ A level content the student is required to learn, then assess student's ability and plan lessons and tasks according to their needs. I give thorough feedback and links to other resources which may be helpful.
To get the most out of each session, I begin each lesson by asking the student about anything they already know about a topic, and then build on their knowledge from there through lecture-style teaching combined with personalised activities such as writing exercises and Kahoots (online quizzes).
At the end of the lesson, I give the student a small 'test' to do outside of lesson time, and guide them through any answers they are struggling with. For older students, this may be a take-away exercise to do for the next session, with the possibility of emailing me for help free of charge if they are struggling with the task.
It brings me great joy to teach both high-achieving students and those who may be struggling a little more. I am especially adept at advising students on the most effective learning strategies, and I always begin the first session by identifying whether the student learns best by reading, writing, listening, or other learning methods.
