Whether you're looking to learn how to read/draw blueprints, learn project-specific guidelines, create construction plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D or create 3D building models using Revit, I've got you covered! I've trained working professionals from project managers to engineers. I like to be as specific as possible and take my time to make sure you have a clear understanding of the lesson at hand before moving forward. Starting from the basics, i.e., user interface, customizations, how to draw basic shapes, until you're ready to start creating design drawings. I highly encourage note-taking because at the end of every lesson, we will have an overview to make sure you have a clear understanding of that lesson. If you have any specific suggestions on what you would like the next lesson to be, please don't hesitate to ask. If not, no worries, I will have weekly lessons outlined and ready to go. No question is irrelevant. So please ask away until you've got it!

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first experience was using the family computer. I was about 10 or 11 years old and I fell in love with technology at the very moment my dad brought home our first computer. I just remember thinking homework was about to get easier, writing papers was about to be a breeze. Using the internet instead of having to go to the library made getting information that much simpler and accessible.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

MOATA Intelligent Content for Revit and CAD. A major cause of Project design delays isn't a lack of information, it's a lack of useful and accessible information. Speaking specifically from creating/using BIM models in Revit, project teams save their created components on hard drives, Sharepoint sites or shared drives, which results in time spent trying to locate or recreate content for each project. MOATA Intelligent Content solves this problem as it stores design components in an intelligently managed library.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I am a Senior CADD Designer. I create design plans for buildings. I create design plans for buildings and machinery. In addition to that, I create 2D & 3D technical drawings using CAD systems such as Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation & Inventor. These technical drawings are used for complex building construction or product manufacturing projects. I work closely with Civil Engineers to help come up with effective designs for projects using these computer aided design softwares. Being apart of the initial design phase and the finish project of it being but in the real world is a rewarding feeling. I feel the 's my contribution to society
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs andMark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I think all 3 provide me inspiration in different ways. Although my field is different, the advancement in technology has made many fields possible, including mine. I would have to add John Walker as my other role model. He developed the first version of AutoCAD. So before CAD, I created blueprints by hand. Manual drafting to be exact. I'm a drafter by trade. However when AutoCAD came along and made old school drafting obsolete, the learning curve that accompanied with it, was exciting. It always takes at least one person who has the vision and then a great team to execute it. Without visionaries like these mentioned, most of the capabilities in the digital/technology world would not be possible.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Just because a field may be predominately catered to one race or gender, don't let that deter or discourage you from pursuing it. It's your smarts that count. When I was in trade school, Drafting started out with mostly boys and 7 girls. As time went on, all the girls left and went to Cosmetology, Myself and one other girl stayed with the rest of the guys. It was a bit intimidating at first but I had to remind myself, I was just as capable and competent as my male counterparts. As a result of having stick-to-it-ness, my teacher allowed me to go on work study in the 11th & 12th grade. After I graduated, the engineering company I worked for while on work study, made me a full time employee after 1 graduated high school. Moral of the story, never quit or give up and opportunity just because the people in the room don't look like you. Your skills, smart and willingness to learn are the best ingredients for success.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

You have to start small and take information little by little. A baby doesn't start off eating solid food. It has to start small and what's easier for their system to digest. Time and patience are the key ingredients to learning any skill. Never compare yourself to the next person. Everyone learns at different speeds and processes information differently, never let that discourage you. You've got this!
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

Thrifting, Interior design & DJ'ing. All 3 are completely different from my career. It gives me a source of joy and adds more variety to my life. I love learning new things!
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I think what makes me a Superprof in CAD, is the amount of years I've been in the Engineering field and the different people ! have met along the way. I've learned so much from other people and that has sharpened my knowledge and ability to share what I've learned with other people. Teach one, teach all is my philosophy. I get enjoyment in knowing I'm helping people and helping them shape their careers or gain more knowledge
