About Mengying
Hello! I'm Ying, an ESOL and Mandarin teacher who also speaks Cantonese as a native language. I'm orignially from Guangzhou, China and I'm currently living in Christchurch, New Zealand.
My Bachelor's degree is Business English and I've been working as an ESOL/ IELTS teacher after graduation since 2015 with my CELTA (English) and CTCSOL (Chinese) teaching certificates gained in 2018. With over 6 years of experience for both 1:1 / classroom teaching and online tutoring with both young and adult learners, I've also achieved my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching and I'm currently on my way to complete my Master Degree in Applied Translation and Interpreting, where I have gained deeper insight into the linguistic, cultural and emotional nuances in cross-cultural communication in the multicultural educational setting.
A bit of my teaching style, I have a great passion for language teaching and learning and I enjoy teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds who are meanwhile interested in cultural exchange and learning Chinese or English as their second language. Built on the general language programs, I'm more than happy to tailor the lesson plans for your learning goals and help you improve your level of Chinese or English at a flexible pace that suits you!
