About Rashid
I am a highly qualified and approachable tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students succeed. With a PhD in Chemistry and an MSc in Bioinformatics, I bring both deep subject knowledge and practical experience to every lesson. I’ve worked as a researcher at the University of Manchester and taught international workshops with The Carpentries, supporting learners of all ages and backgrounds. I create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making progress at their own pace. I start each session by identifying what the student already knows and where the gaps are, then build a clear, step-by-step plan that combines short explanations with worked examples, quick checks for understanding and plenty of practice questions. I use everyday analogies and interactive tools (virtual lab demos, coding notebooks, mini-quizzes) to keep lessons lively and ensure concepts stick. A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes, though longer revision blocks or bite-sized 30-minute slots are available when needed. I hold a PhD in Chemistry and an MSc in Bioinformatics, have taught hands-on coding and data-science workshops for The Carpentries, and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate projects during my research post at the University of Manchester. Lessons are open to pupils from upper primary (KS2) through GCSE, A-level and university, whether they need help catching up, stretching ahead or polishing exam technique.
