About Romance

As for my personal language skills, I have a very strong linguistic background: I passed an IB (International Britannique) Baccaulaureate, with an A+ grade in 2013; I also managed to 107 out of 120 points at the TOEFL exam in 2014. I then spent a year abroad at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where I was employed as a host for the Six Nations, as a polling station assistant for the 2016 Scottish elections, and, over a longer period of time, as a personal assistant for a young Scottish disabled lady. At the end of the academic year, I was also granted the Philip Barry prize as best student for the course "Introduction to Criminology". And don't worry ... I guarantee I do not have the Scottish accent ;-)!

In 2013/2014, I also provided a young middle school girl with personal lessons in all kind of subjects. I have great memories of that tutoring experience, both for the trust that flourished between me and the student, as well as for the progress she made and the increased self-esteem and self-confidence she developed. It was a great way for me to improve my teaching skills, and learn how to offer playful and creative exercises that would match her needs.

At the moment, I am also helping a young University student prepare for the Sciences Po exam. Under these specific circumstances, I tend to insist on reading press articles, writing essays, and some vocabulary exercises. So far, lessons with this student are going great, and I very much hope my teaching will enable him to be confident for the exam.

Hi there!

As a 4th year student at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Rennes, I would like to give each and everyone the benefit of my knowledge in the English language (which I acquired through an IB Baccalaureat and a year abroad at the University of Edinburgh) and offer English sessions, be it for young children or adults!
I have had several experiences in personal tutoring (I am currently helping a young University student prepare for the Sciences Po competitive exam), and am particularly fond of English, which is a language I feel pretty much at ease with. As a teacher, I am adaptable and like to adjust my teaching methods to the student's needs and expectations. I am also flexible and creative, and tend to discard "old school" methods such as repetitive/boring conjugation or grammar exercice. Instead, I like to offer more interactive sessions (real situations simulations, writing short stories ...) so that English feels accessible and attractive! Listening to the person's doubts and needs is essential to me, in order to create an atmosphere where he or she can develop and feel comfortable. When it comes to competitive exams, I tend to use English press articles, in order to strengthen the ability of the student to express their opinion on current topics.
To me, creativity and patience go hand in hand with teaching skills, and my main objective is to prevent the student from "drowning" into a blurry flood of information or inadequate exercise.

So whether you want to impress your teacher, prepare for an exam, prepare for a trip in the UK or just feel at ease when speaking, feel free to contact me :-)! See you soon!
