About Natalie
With 2 years of experience teaching piano both in-person and online, I’ve had the joy of working with students of all ages and levels. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with a focus on Pedagogy. My teaching approach is rooted in building strong sight-reading skills, developing interpretive depth, and helping students engage meaningfully with the classical repertoire. I emphasize a clear understanding of score analysis and stylistic interpretation, especially for more complex works. Every student learns differently, and I’m committed to adapting my lessons to suit each individual. I incorporate music theory, history, and finger technique to ensure a well-rounded musical education. My approach often includes discussions of period performance practices to deepen interpretive choices. Whether you're a beginner, an advancing student, or a professional pianist refining your craft, I aim to meet you where you are. I enjoy helping students not just play the piano, but understand it. My teaching approach blends piano performance with a strong foundation in music theory. I focus on helping students understand how theory directly applies to what they play on the keyboard. We cover essentials like chord progressions, inversions, and harmonic analysis in a way that feels clear and useful. I break complex topics down into simple steps, showing how they relate to real music. Whether you’re preparing for an exam or refining classical repertoire, I offer personalized guidance to make theory work for you. I especially enjoy helping exam takers and classical performers connect the dots between the notes on the page and the music they hear. Lessons are adapted to your goals and learning pace. We’ll use theory to strengthen interpretation, improve memorization, and deepen your understanding of each piece. I also introduce basic composition and improvisation to help students apply theory creatively. Technique and musicality go hand in hand in my lessons. You’ll gain confidence at the keyboard by knowing what you're playing and why. My goal is to give you tools that last a lifetime. Together, we’ll build musical fluency from the ground up.
