Ilenia ha creato un ambiente della compassione e dell’adattabilità. È una donna molto intelligente e con lei, imparare italiano è una esperienza tanto giocosa, e gioiosa. Confesso che non è la mia prima volta che ho imparato italiano, ho studiatolo alcuni anni fa, sola. Però ora, studiando con lei — chi, attualmente, parla cinque lingue! — non è semplicemente gli basici. Tocchiamo tutto, tutti gli fatti e dettagli. Ed accanto di quello, in conoscendola più, direi ch’è diventata un’amica di me. Parliamo in italiano frequentemente. Crea esercizi per me anche. La mia capacità di comprensione e parlare hanno cresciuto profondamente da imparare con lei. Che lei è da Italia aggiunga molto anche a le nostre lezione, dando un aspetto di naturalezza e comprensibilità che forse non può essere ottenuto con la maggiorità dei insegnanti di italiano fuori di Italia. Ilenia has given me such insight into Italian. She is from Italy herself, and speaks five languages, and that allows her to convey the language’s inner workings holistically and intuitively. She has become a friend of mine in the process. We have conversed in Italian and we have shared deep thoughts in the language. She also creates thorough exercises for me. My capacity for it has markedly increased since starting with her — admittedly I came in somewhat prepared, having studied Italian independently years prior, but she quickly helped me solidify and reproduce that knowledge, with adaptivity as well to my capacities. She is very intelligent and versatile, and I am so grateful to have her as my Italian teacher & mentor.
