About Suzanne
Central to my approach is to develop children and young people's confidence, improve self-esteem and celebrate success through interactive, fun learning experiences. I use a range of strategies to help children to manage their own wellbeing. I also work collaboratively with parents to ensure success. I encourage storytelling, imagination, humour and critical thinking (something I believe is not encouraged nowadays). I have a typically British sense of humour! I have lots of life-experience such as travelling, snorkelling, horse riding, ziplining and more! I believe in positivity and embracing opportunities which gives me a library of real life knowledge and stories to inspire children and young people to develop themselves and have future aspirations. I am extremely patient and always care about and see the true talents of every single student.

I now have availability for more students. Lessons are 1 or 2 hours (with a break halfway). This might be one or two subjects. I teach from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3 and beyond, including English and Maths Functional Skills and GCSE English and Maths. In-person lessons are available in Somerset and online are available internationally. These can be delivered to one child or a small group of up to 5 children. Home-schooled children may benefit in particular. I currently teach in the Bristol/North Somerset area, delivering one-to-one two-hour lessons (in person) to children aged 12-16 with additional needs, including anxiety and mental health challenges. I am passionate about supporting these children to improve in maths and English, tailoring lessons individually. Many more children need additional support both academically and emotionally since Covid, and I can help families whose children are behind, or do not attend school settings. I have recently completed training with the Autism Association. However, I am able to teach any child and have availability from September for more students. I am also able to mentor parents/carers and advise on how to support children with homework or extra academic needs. I have a Masters in Education with distinction (2022) and a background in primary teaching since 2006, including as a specialist teacher working with SEND pupils and children with behaviour challenges, although I now teach older students. I have lectured on degree courses at two Universities which means I am also experienced in adult education including online teaching to groups. I also have considerable experience of working with families who are multi-lingual. I have trained in Learning language and Loving It with the Hanen Program, International leaders in speech and language, which has transformed my approach to supporting children's communication skills. I am also passionate about the benefits of outdoor exploration for children's learning and wellbeing and ran a successful 'Ofsted Outstanding' business with this focus.

We are so grateful to Suzanne for the incredible support she gave our son with English and Maths. Thanks to her guidance and encouragement, he achieved fantastic results in both Maths and English, something the school had doubted was possible. Suzanne was always patient, kind, caring, and truly lovely to work with. She believed in him when others didn’t, and that made all the difference. We can’t recommend her highly enough!
Suzie is a very friendly and caring person. When Suzie was teaching my son who has learning difficulties and severe dyslexia also anxiety. Suzie is a very understanding lady if my son wasn’t feeling good Suzie wouldn’t push him and talk with him. My son was very upset when he finished working with Suzie when he moved onto college. Very lovely lady.
Suzie has been tutoring my 15 year old daughter for about a year. My daughter has complex needs, learning difficulties and anxiety so severe that she had to leave school and start homeschooling. That was when Suzie came in to our lives to tutor my daughter at home. My daughter had become phobic of any type of teaching staff due to her difficulties with school but Suzie was so understanding of this and had such a gentle approach to gain my daughters trust. I was also battling the school system and Local Authorities to get my daughter the support she needed and her ehcp. Suzie went beyond her duties as a tutor to help support us with that struggle, she even took time out of her own personal time to write a report to help support my daughter’s case. She is a fantastic tutor and my daughter actually now likes to learn and do her English and Math with Suzie, something I thought I would never see! She takes the learning at my daughter’s pace and Suzie can recognise when it’s time for my daughter to have a little break if it gets too much for her. I can’t recommend Suzie highly enough.
Suzie has been teaching my child who has Autism and other difficulties. She is an amazing tutor, very knowledgeable and understanding person. She is also very friendly, she makes her learning fun and easy to understand on the child level of learning, She is also very supportive, helped my child improved so much and with her confidence. I would highly recommend her as your tutor.
I've had suzie teaching my daughter who has ASD... I have been amazed how much suzie has got my daughter to do . She has been patient and accommodating as well as friendly and knowledgeable.
Would recommend suzie as my daughter has thrived under her tuition and actually enjoys her lessons now . And my daughter is very closed when meeting new people but her and suzie have a great time during her lessons.View more recommendations
