About Graham

I am an English tutor with over 4 years of experience and hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing, with a focus in Applied Linguistics. My passion lies in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP), where I help students navigate the demands of university-level English. I specialise in guiding learners to write strong research papers, understand complex lectures, and build a solid academic vocabulary. Much of my experience has been with university students and international learners preparing for higher education. I support them in mastering skills such as note-taking, referencing, summarising, and structuring well-developed arguments. My lessons are practical, goal-oriented, and tailored to meet each student's academic needs. I also work on developing clear, concise writing and critical thinking through engaging and meaningful tasks. Whether it's preparing for presentations or learning how to analyse texts, I help students communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence. I use a range of materials, including academic texts, lectures, and real university assignments. My approach is encouraging, structured, and student-centred. I believe that with the right support, every learner can succeed in academic English. Helping students thrive in academic settings is not just my job—it's my mission.

About the lesson

My teaching approach in English focuses on building strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. I help students speak clearly and confidently by practising real-life conversations and spoken drills. Writing skills are developed through simple, clear, and structured exercises that improve fluency and coherence. I use everyday examples and situations that learners can relate to, so the language feels natural and useful. Whether it’s preparing for an exam, writing emails, or speaking in interviews, I make sure my students feel ready and sure of themselves. I focus on pronunciation, listening comprehension, and reading fluency using engaging content like articles, dialogues, and videos. For those starting a new life in an English-speaking environment, I guide them with patience and practical lessons that match daily needs. I break down language barriers step-by-step so learners gain the courage to speak up and express themselves freely. I also provide tips and strategies for writing effectively, especially for academic or workplace settings. My lessons are friendly, supportive, and always adapted to each student's pace and goals. I believe every learner has the power to succeed with the right encouragement. Helping students grow in skill and confidence is the heart of my teaching.
