About Laurel
My teaching methodology is built on making learning interactive, meaningful, and enjoyable for every student. I use real-life examples and case studies to connect lessons with practical situations, helping students see how the concepts they learn apply outside the classroom or practice room. This approach makes lessons more engaging and builds a deeper understanding of the subject. I focus on truly understanding each student’s unique learning style, strengths, and challenges. This helps build confidence and makes every session productive and motivating. I believe in being honest, respectful, and consistent, creating a learning environment where students can trust the process and feel supported. While violin is my main subject, I can also teach related areas like music theory, ear training, and performance techniques. My ultimate goal is to inspire students to develop both their technical skills and creativity, so they can enjoy their learning journey and achieve their goals.

I am a passionate and committed violin tutor with over 9 years of experience teaching students of all ages, from schoolchildren and college students to working professionals who wish to explore music as a creative outlet. Over the years, I have developed a teaching philosophy that focuses on making the learning process both enjoyable and meaningful. I take the time to understand each student’s background, pace, and personal goals, ensuring that every lesson is uniquely tailored to their needs. Whether it’s a structured lesson for exam preparation or a more flexible approach for casual learners, I adapt my methods to bring out the best in every student.
My lessons focus not only on building strong technical foundations but also on encouraging creativity, musical expression, and confidence. I believe music should inspire and connect, so I emphasize interpretation, phrasing, and emotional depth alongside technique. Many of my students have achieved great success in exams, recitals, and personal musical projects, and seeing their growth is my greatest reward.
