About Dr Sara De Felice

I'm a neuroscience researcher at University of Cambridge. I have extensive experience in tutoring students of all levels. I hold a BSc in Psychology from Aston University (Birmingham), a dual master in Neuroscience from UCL and UPMC (Paris), and a PhD in cognitive neuroscience from UCL.

I would love to make an impact in someone else's academic life and support you in your learning, via a professional, reliable and structured approach, with clear goals and lots of flexibility to work around individual needs and aspirations. My tailored approach acknowledges that everyone faces individual challenges and life phases. I also offer support for university applications (Bachelor, Master and PhD).

My research focuses on the importance of social interaction in human learning. Science is showing that learning is longer-lasting when there is a co-creation between student and teacher.
I'm very much interested in how interacting with others (e.g. your teacher) can help you learn things faster and for longer (compared to if you would stare at your laptop reading the same information). So my approach is very interactive and tailored to individual needs: active listening is key and allows for flexibility along the way based on student's progress and feedback.

I have an active record of publications in high-impact-factor journals and am a successful grants holder.

My approach is to offer help that can be long-lasting and transferrable to future challenges: rather than giving you the answer, I focus on how to get those answers so that students can be indipendent and use what learned later on. I teach you the skills that you need so you can apply those in your future work.

I offer help in the following areas:

academic writing (dissertation, lab reports, essays, academic articles for peer-review journal, systematic litterature review)
research methods in neuroscience/psychology (quantitative)
statistical analysis for dissertations (from plan to running stats in SPSS/Matlab to interpret results)
effective reading and critical analysing of academic papers
academic poster
PowerPoint presentation
application to university programmes (cover letters, CV, interviews etc)
grants writing

I propose 1 hour one-to-one session, but I am flexible to discuss options in case a small group of 2/3 students want to join sessions together. I am based between London and Cambridge, in case you prefer to meet in person within this area, we can discuss it.

My price includes supporting material and a structured plan that the student can follow during independent work. I see the sessions as milestones of a longer learning process where I give support along the way while promoting independency and long-term individual learning.
