About Jalen

Hi, I’m a violin tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Studies (Violin). My lessons are designed to blend traditional technique with modern tools to help students learn smarter and play better. I use technology like slow-down apps, MIDI notation, DAWs, and video feedback to help students truly hear, analyse, and improve their sound. I’m passionate about teaching genres beyond classical—Jazz Violin, Rock Strings, and Indie Folk are some of my favourites. I love helping students develop their own style through improvisation and creative expression. I also create custom backing tracks to make practice more fun and performance-ready. My teaching is flexible and responsive, adapting to each student’s pace and goals. Whether you're working on bow control, ear training, or solo performance, I’ll guide you with clear strategies and supportive feedback. My lessons encourage confidence, creativity, and real-world musicality. I welcome beginners, hobbyists, and aspiring professionals alike. With me, you’ll learn to think like a musician, not just play like one. Let’s explore the future of violin learning—one note at a time.

My approach blends classical bowing techniques with modern ear training, music theory, and improvisation, creating a well-rounded musical journey for every student. Whether you're preparing for graded exams, aiming to master solo repertoire, or simply want to explore your creative voice, my lessons are tailored to fit your goals and style. I work with students of all ages, from absolute beginners to advanced players. My sessions are designed to build strong technical foundations while encouraging personal expression and musical freedom. I incorporate engaging practice routines that keep students motivated and inspired, even outside the classroom. For those drawn to contemporary styles, I provide the tools to develop stage presence, interpret pop and jazz melodies, and improvise with confidence. I guide students to build solid pitch control, rhythmic accuracy, and emotional connection in every performance. From conservatoire prep to professional aspirations, I’m committed to helping each student grow not just as a player, but as a passionate musician.
