About Jordan
I’m a piano tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance. I specialize in teaching pianists how to become strong collaborators—whether accompanying vocalists, instrumentalists, or choirs. My lessons focus on practical skills like reading lead sheets, transposing on the fly, and developing rhythmic sensitivity. I also emphasize how to adapt to a wide range of musical styles with ease and confidence. I enjoy helping students become versatile accompanists who listen, support, and respond musically in real time. My approach is student-centered and flexible, designed to fit the goals of both school-aged learners and adult or professional accompanists. I’ve worked with students from Beginner to Advanced levels, as well as those already performing at the Professional/Expert stage. Lessons are tailored to each person’s musical environment, from recitals and studio sessions to worship settings and live performances. I break down complex concepts into clear steps that make learning both effective and enjoyable. Whether you're learning accompaniment for the first time or refining your skills for high-level gigs, I’m here to support you. My piano teaching approach focuses on building strong music reading skills through a clear, step-by-step method. I place special emphasis on sight-reading exercises, speed reading, and identifying intervals on the staff. Rhythmic accuracy is a key part of every lesson, helping students stay steady and confident as they read. My goal is to create a strong link between the eyes and the fingers.
Lessons include targeted drills that improve visual-to-finger coordination. I work especially well with The Child Prodigy and The Hobbyist Adult—students who want to read fluently and grow with every piece they play. Whether it’s preparing for exams or learning for fun, I make sure students feel supported and challenged. You’ll soon be able to approach unfamiliar pieces and play them at sight with ease.
We also work on timing, hand-eye coordination, and efficient practice habits. I break down complex rhythms into manageable steps. Each session builds your speed, accuracy, and musical awareness. I’m here to help you excel, one note at a time.
