About William
I am a PhD student at the University of Illinois with four years of experience tutoring writing, a year of general purpose tutoring, and three years of classroom teaching experience. I was recently awarded the Certificate in Foundations of Teaching for demonstrating reflective teaching practices. Classes I have taught frequently involve a variety of writing assignments and tutorials in statistical analysis. My teaching experience is bolstered by five semesters of graduate-level instruction in statistics and quantitative methods. In my spare time, I enjoy learning about other cultures and practicing coding in R and Python.

I use techniques practiced in writing centers across the world. In a session, we establish the specific goals and situation of the task and how they affect our session. We then focus on 1-3 main issues (e.g., a particular recurring mistake or challenge or implementing a new technique). Finally, we establish a follow-up plan, which may include practice, research, or using other resources. I am experienced at tutoring a variety of document types, including resumes/CVs for high school and college students, college-level writing assignments, and college and graduate school applications. I have dozens of hours of experience in teaching APA style.
