About Timothy
I am Australian-born and have lived in New Zealand for seven years. I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Melbourne, examining the processes of federation and constitution-making in Australia and Canada. During my time living in New Zealand, I have worked as a member of the research staff of the Waitangi Tribunal and later as an independent research contractor commissioned by the Tribunal.
I have long had an interest in learning languages, studying several (with varying degrees of success!) over the years. In recent years, my focus has been on Taiwanese (台語). Through my own experiences, I have an understanding of some of the challenges (e.g of grammar, pronunciation) that come from switching between English and a range of European and Asian languages.

I have a doctoral degree in history and have worked as a university tutor and as a researcher. I also have experience assisting non-native speakers with their English.
I am available to provide tutoring to adults who have already learnt basic English and wish to improve their command of the language in both its spoken and written forms.
I can also provide assistance to both native and non-native speakers in editing and proof-reading their English writing, including that for use in professional and academic contexts.
