About Stella
I grew up on a farm in North Wairarapa . After leaving school I went to Dunedin and trained as a medical imaging technologist - this is someone who takes x-rays. I then married a farmer and moved back to Wairarapa and we had three children who are now grown up and have children of their own, my seven grandchildren. We moved to Hawkes Bay and although I have moved homes a few times, I still live there now, in Central Hawkes Bay. Sadly my husband died nearly eleven years ago, so I now live on my own, on my son’s farm, with my cat Pape and my puppy Ruby. I have worked as a medical imaging technologist in the intervening years. I earned a university degree when I was in my forties. I still enjoy learning and have recently undertaken a course on teaching English to speakers of other languages.

My empathetic approach will ensure the building of self esteem and confidence in the student. In order to retain their interest in the lessons, I will discover what they are interested in or even passionate about, and include this within their learning processes. I will include the student in the lesson planning after having ascertained what they hope to achieve. The level of student involvement will be age dependent to a certain degree. If there are any learning disabilities, I would research the specific disability and seek professional recommendations if I believe I need them.
My goal will always be what is the optimal outcome for the student, and how to achieve this in a kind, realistic, and professional approach.
