About Julia
Hi, I'm Julia! I've always loved to read and write, and I know the ins-and-outs of high school and elementary school English, having received 100% in both English and Literature 12. Some of my other hobbies include playing the trumpet, sewing, and watching Kdramas! I will be entering the faculty of Arts in UBC this September, studying political science and psychology. To be honest, English can be a difficult language to work with, but once you learn some tricks and do some practice, you'll be surprised by how much progress you can make in a little time. I can't stress enough the importance of having strong writing skills and being able to think critically as you read, not only in academic contexts, but far beyond. So, I hope that I can work with you to develop your English skills!

- Usually lessons are structured on assigned reading homework of a section of a book (e.g. The Giver, Animal Farm)
- One book is usually finished in roughly a month
- Lessons are then tailored to the student's needs, for example analyzing plot structure, exploring use of imagery, discussing key questions
- Also incorporates vocabulary and grammar exercises into lessons
- Helps students write formal literary essays as well other types, and works with student to improve/edit writing
- MLA and APA formatting style if requested
- Can also help with English homework
- Teaches Grade 4-9
