About Harper
I’m a violin tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education (Strings – Violin), and I’m passionate about bringing the joy of music to both individuals and groups. My background extends beyond private lessons—I’ve successfully directed string ensembles, led group violin classes, and conducted youth orchestras, helping students thrive in collaborative settings. Working with schools, community centers, and chamber groups has given me the opportunity to connect with a wide range of learners and create inclusive, inspiring musical experiences. In every rehearsal or lesson, I focus on the essential skills that make great ensemble players. From section leading and ensemble dynamics to tuning as a group and developing strong team musicianship, I guide students in understanding how their sound fits within the bigger picture. Whether we’re preparing a piece for performance or simply exploring new repertoire together, I emphasize communication, listening, and shared responsibility for the music. I believe that ensemble playing teaches more than technique—it builds confidence, cooperation, and a deeper appreciation for music. There’s something incredibly rewarding about hearing individual parts come together into a unified sound. Together, we’ll explore that joy and grow as musicians, celebrating the unique magic of collective music-making.

My violin teaching profile is built on the belief that learning should be both structured and deeply expressive. I offer lessons that blend traditional bowing techniques with modern ear training and music theory, creating a balanced and dynamic learning experience. Students gain a strong technical foundation while also exploring the creative side of music, from phrasing and interpretation to improvisation.
I cover a wide range of violin-related subjects, including solo performance preparation, ensemble playing, exam readiness, and even composition for those who want to write their own music. Each lesson is carefully tailored to the student’s age, level, and goals, ensuring they feel supported and challenged at the right pace. Whether you’re a young beginner discovering your first notes or an experienced player aiming for expressive mastery, I help you connect with the instrument in meaningful ways.
My teaching style is designed to keep motivation high through engaging practice methods that make progress feel rewarding rather than routine. Some students thrive by working on classical concert pieces, while others light up when learning contemporary or improvisational styles—and I encourage both. I particularly enjoy guiding students who dream of taking their playing beyond the page, helping them develop confidence in their own musical voice.
