About Preston
I am a passionate piano tutor with 9 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Collaborative Piano. My teaching approach emphasizes critical thinking, musicality, and individualized learning tailored to each student’s goals. I believe that mastering the piano goes beyond technique; it involves holistic development through music theory, ear training, history, and performance skills. I have guided students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as Professional and Expert learners. Each lesson is designed to challenge, inspire, and build confidence while fostering a deep love for music. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students can explore their creativity freely. My approach combines structured technique with expressive artistry, helping students develop both technical mastery and emotional connection to the music. I encourage analytical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression through every piece. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and goal-oriented, ensuring steady progress. My piano teaching approach focuses on building strong foundations while nurturing a lifelong passion for music. I guide students from beginner to advanced levels, ensuring they feel confident at every stage. Lessons cover piano, keyboard techniques, sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, and performance skills.
I integrate music theory with practical playing so students can understand and apply concepts effortlessly. I encourage regular practice routines tailored to each student’s pace and style. From developing hand coordination to mastering complex pieces, I focus on both technique and expression.
I support students in building confidence for performances, recitals, and exams. Creativity and musicality are emphasized alongside accuracy and timing. I adapt my teaching to suit children showing exceptional talent as well as adults exploring music as a hobby.
Every lesson is interactive, engaging, and goal-oriented. I celebrate small achievements while guiding students to reach higher levels. My aim is to help every learner excel, enjoy music, and discover their unique voice on the piano.
