About Taylor

My name is Taylor Navarro. I'm a Journalism student at the University of Melbourne, bookworm, English nerd, and horribly optimistic--- meaning that I 100% believe that everyone has the capacity to be good at English. ... But even I can admit that's enough about English (I'll be talking about it more anyway in our lessons and down the page, not even a full sentence away). So, aside from optimism, I'm outgoing, creative, patient and understanding. Despite my age, I've also pursued as many opportunities for experience as possible. I'm the Youth Editor of the Westsider Newspaper, a published author, and award-winning writer for both creative and poetry. I hope to pursue writing as a full-time career in my future, and am extremely passionate!

Additionally, I achieved a study score of 41 in English and 36 in Literature. So, I am also able to deliver VCE tutoring in those areas, not just junior highschool or primary school literacy assistance!

I really, really, REALLY love English and I can't wait to share that with you. Can't wait to meet you, I can't wait to see you succeed!

About the lesson

Lessons will run for 45 mins to an hour!

In your first lesson, it will be all about getting to know each other and getting comfortable. It's important to me that there is student-teacher connection-- I will never force it, and I'll never make excuses for it. We'll run through some exercises, some games and keep it light, and create a plan together for the next few lessons!

I'll always put in the effort to make sure you feel confident to engage in the lesson--- I'm patient and will go over any area of uncertainty as many times as you need. And I also believe in breaks--- these won't cut into the time you paid for!

By the way, I passionately believe in maintaining the style of the writer. When I edit or give feedback, it will always be as a suggestion and it will always have a reason so you can understand why some changes should be made, while also giving you the opportunity to challenge me if you disagree!

I want to build a foundation of skills for you that you can take anywhere--- before you know it, you won't even need my help to write a 90%+ assignment!

p.s. willing to travel to State Library for lessons :))

Allan's sons are so friendly and eager to learn. They listen, give everything a try and are vocal about when they have questions.

And even when they aren't... We all love to laugh when we're all confused about what's happening. It was such an easygoing lesson with a great atmosphere, and the best part was that it was productive, too.

Even if we are still at the start of our lessons, I just know that they're going to make great progress. It's so obvious how much potential they have and I truly loved working with them, and I look forward to teaching them in the future!

Angel's daughter was so attentive and great at listening. Even though I was writing up the lesson notes, she was taking her own on the side (which was a very nice surprise and also a great insight into how enthusiastic of a student she was). She asked questions, checked in, and I'm positive we're going to go far with our lessons!
