About Ethan

For the past 8 years, I’ve been working with school and college students, teaching them how to play guitar in a way that feels exciting and achievable. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I believe it has the power to shape people in ways that go far beyond technical skill. That’s why I focus on developing a strong foundation in music theory, while also fostering creativity and expression. I strive to make every lesson both challenging and fun, making sure that students feel engaged and motivated to keep improving. One of the most rewarding experiences of my career was helping a group of my students start their own band and then watching them perform live at local events. Seeing their growth, not just as musicians but as confident individuals, was a true highlight of my career. The guitar became more than just an instrument for them—it became a means of self-expression, a way to build confidence, and a source of joy. It’s amazing to see how learning the guitar helps students not only develop their musical skills but also grow emotionally and socially. Whether they want to perform for an audience or simply enjoy playing at home, I am dedicated to helping them reach their musical goals while building essential life skills that go beyond the fretboard.

About the lesson

Guitar lessons should be as unique as each student, and with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education, I focus on creating a personalized approach for every learner. I start by helping students develop a strong foundation in technical skills—posture, rhythm, finger strength, and fretboard knowledge—so they can play with ease and confidence.

Once the basics are in place, I tailor lessons to the student’s interests, whether they want to learn their favorite songs, explore classical guitar, or dive into contemporary styles like rock, blues, or jazz. I believe in making music theory accessible and engaging by incorporating it into the learning process through real music.

Theory helps students understand the structure of music and apply it to their playing. For those interested in composition or improvisation, I offer creative exercises to help them develop their own musical ideas. I also work with performance-focused students to refine their technique, stage presence, and confidence. Using modern tools like metronomes, digital tuners, and interactive tab software, I ensure students have the resources they need to practice effectively and stay motivated.
