About Rawan

I am a student at the University of Leeds studying Law. I am from both Saudi and the United Kingdom and I am fluent in both English and Arabic.
I have more than five years of experience in tutoring and created my own tutoring startup which has successfully expanded within my region (back home in Saudi).
I offer online tutoring classes ranging between 2-3 times a week, depending on both mine and the student's availability. I strive to put together a tailored teaching plan according to the student's needs and ability, while incorporating challenging material to keep you on your toes!
My approach to tutoring is rather friendly and relaxed, making students comfortable enough to make mistakes, express their doubts and benefiting the most out of this learning experience.
I am very efficient with I.T, which is a major aspect of online tutoring. I strive to help students with adapting to online learning as it has become more common within educational institutions.
'Take Your Teaching Online' was an 8-week course I took with the Open University which helped me achieve a qualified understanding of how to effectively tutor online.
Apart from my studies and tutoring, I thoroughly enjoy swimming and going on long walks (I like to think of it as an adventure). I also look forward to my free time on the couch watching TV!

About the lesson

Firstly, I always offer a free 30-minute introduction and evaluation session to help determine the student's language level and what are the main elements we must practice.
Lessons are 1-hour long, and with the help of the whiteboard and screen sharing, I aim to deliver interactive tutoring lessons where the student must thoroughly participate and engage.
Each will receive a customised Google Drive folder where I will create a detailed lesson plan. This entails what we will be covering during the lesson and any at-home tasks for the student to do.
Since tutoring is online, you can also find all the work and answers (for parents to track progress).
Since I am a language tutor, we will be rotating between the 4 skills of: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
The most important part about my lessons is to make the student feel safe and comfortable enough to make mistakes and effectively learn from them to further build their confidence speaking the language.
