About Kristine
Hello prospective students! I am originally from Canada and I have an immense passion for learning and teaching languages to students of all ages and backgrounds = ) I have over 5 years of experience working as a Language tutor and teacher (ESL and French) with 2 years of experience teaching English as a second language to French native speakers (adults, adolescents and children). I have taught English to engineers and business professionals, young adults, adolescents, and children (ages 5 - 65).
On top of having taught students from different countries and cultures (Canada, Scotland, England and France), I also have experience teaching professional/business, academic and conversational English. I have helped students improve their English vocabulary (daily, functional or professional use), speaking and listening skills, pronunciation, reading and writing skills and build their confidence in using English in their jobs, at school or in their daily lives. Additionally, I have experience helping children and young adults prepare for the Cambridge English exams and IELTS exams.
I have recently finished a Master's Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

Overall, I enjoy helping students reach specific personal or academic goals while also keeping my lessons flexible and allowing for an open agenda that enables students to learn at their own preferred pace. I tailor my lessons to the particular needs and aims of each individual and adapt my "teaching methodology" accordingly.
Nonetheless, my lessons usually follow a basic structure that helps students learn, practice and retain new material (grammar, vocabulary, concepts etc...). I start my lessons with a quick revision of material learned in the previous lesson, an introduction to the new topic, short activities that help students practice the new material learned and then a mini assignment or role-play to consolidate what they learned.
On the whole, I always keep my lessons engaging and fun and I try to accomplish this by creating lessons that reflect the interests and needs of each student. The style and structure of lessons can be adapted to each student's unique preferences = )

The first lesson (30 minutes) is free for webcam lessons and will be charged at half price for face-to-face lessons ($10 CAD/hour plus transportation fee if applicable).
