About Daniel
I am a graduate in MML (French and Spanish) from the University of Cambridge. I studied at the renowned École Normale Supérieure on my year abroad in Paris and I have a place on the MSt in Modern Languages at Oxford.
I have been tutoring for over one and a half years and I have seen my students make excellent progress in both languages. I have taught over 400 1-1 lessons for various organisations and have received all five-star reviews (over 50 in total). I have taught KS3 (French and Spanish), GCSE (French and Spanish), Cambridge iGCSE (French and Spanish), A level (French and Spanish), University level (French). I have taught French to a student preparing for a scholarship exam at Winchester College. I have helped a student at The London School of Economics prepare for a French oral exam and I have helped a couple of students prepare for MML interviews at Oxford (French) and Cambridge (Spanish). I have taught adults also, including a Cambridge graduate. In addition to teaching private 1-1 lessons, I was also invited by a tutoring organisation to design and teach group courses because of my strong track record in 1-1 tuition. I therefore also have experience teaching groups.
I have been learning French for about 14 years and Spanish for about 7 years. During this time, I have encountered a lot of excellent resources that I use to teach my students. I am happy to suggest a variety of ways that students can progress between lessons and I am always willing to set and mark homework.

Above all, I am here to help the student. Therefore, I will always look to ask students what they hope to gain from my sessions. This will help me to identify particular areas that we need to focus on and discussing learning objectives together also encourages my students to be self-reflective. Constant evaluation is an important part of the learning process and helps me to tailor my lessons to the specific needs of each student. I am very thorough in my approach to language learning and teach high-quality, rigorous lessons. I can adapt my teaching style for different purposes but I generally implement a particular style that I have found to be highly effective. I am kind, gentle and patient with students so that students feel comfortable in my lessons. The atmosphere in a lesson is as important as the lesson content in my eyes and I always strive to create a positive learning environment, which allows students to flourish and reach their full potential.
I am a graduate who teaches GCSE and A Level. I adopt a meticulous approach to language learning, focusing on both vocabulary and grammar as I try to make my lessons interesting and balanced. I am patient, kind and supportive.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in response to your character reference request for Daniel Whitesman. I met Daniel back in 2014, when we were studying together as undergraduate students at Cambridge University. Since then, I have begun work as an education consultant and in this capacity, I have been able to recommend Daniel’s tutoring services on numerous occasions.
Daniel has always shown himself to be extremely diligent, putting in great effort to complete a task to the highest standard. At university he stood out as a deeply thoughtful and analytical student. His own curious and probing mind provides great stimulation and topics of discussion for his tutees.
As for his character, he is thoroughly reliable, honest and trustworthy. He is punctual and well-organised and builds great rapport with his students. As a linguist, his communication skills are excellent and he is sensitive to the needs and feelings of those he interacts with.
Daniel is a keen tutor and has spoken often of how rewarding he finds teaching. Indeed, he has taught over 275 hours of lessons and has received very positive feedback. In one particular case of tutoring for my company’s online platform, Daniel significantly improved the level and confidence of a student in Spanish, so much so that she gained a place at her top choice of school.
I am sure that Daniel would continue to contribute to the success of your tutoring agency and I believe both in character and competence, he would be an asset to your company.
If you have any questions about the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours faithfully,
Naomi Newell.Daniel has an incredible gift teaching, He is really equipped to teach languages. He is very confident, patient, and has no problem being asked again. His commitment and responsibility also made possible to let me learn more than I could imagine. It is so easy to learn with him! I feel confident speaking with native speakers.
