About Maria
I've come a long way to be where I am today. Leaving my home country at a young age was a big step, but I did it to pursue a better education in the United States. It wasn't easy, but my hard work and determination paid off—I earned a scholarship for tennis and a merit scholarship based on my grades. Becoming a student-athlete was the best decision I've ever made. It's not just about physical strength; it's about the motivation and drive it gives me to constantly improve myself. One thing I've realized on my journey is that my Spanish-speaking background can be a valuable asset in helping others learn the language. I believe that these skills shouldn't be wasted. I want to make a difference by teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, opening up new opportunities for them to learn and grow. As a professor, my goal is to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable and inspired. I want to empower my students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. Trust and respect are essential to me—I want to build a classroom atmosphere based on collaboration, critical thinking, and personal development. All in all, my experiences have shaped me into a compassionate and dedicated individual. I am committed to making a positive impact on my students' lives and contributing to the field of education in a meaningful way.
