About Shaurya Vanlalvena
I am currently a year 1 undergraduate in NTU Singapore. I decided to take up tutoring because I recently found out how much I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with a student in order to help them accomplish their academic goals. Apart from this, I came from an IB school in India which was not very apt with its teaching methods and I suffered a lot as a result of this. I do not want to put any other IB student through the same struggle I had of not having someone who knew the IB well enough to help them out, leaving them stranded in their learning often times feeling hopeless about their studies. I wish to be that person that knows the IB well enough to make the student feel confident, stress free, and secure in their IBDP journey.

- My main approach to teaching is starting off with the bare basics of a subject in order to ensure a strong foundation in Biology. This will further help in analytical and critical thinking in further more advanced topics. - Apart from this, I consider my role as a tutor to make sure a student understands a particular concept rather than reading off of a book and asking them "do you understand this?". To ensure my students have the understanding of the concepts, I inculcate questions throughout the lesson to ensure they are on the same page as me. - Lastly, I am very open to feedback as at the end of the day, I want what is best for my student and I am willing to listen to what my student requires and include that as a part of my teaching. - I have been tutoring for about two years now. In 2023 I spent about 9 months tutoring a few students in Chemistry after which I took a break from tutoring in order to focus on my studies. Once my IBDP exams had ended I started taking in a few students for IB Biology, IB Psychology as well as helping out in Theory of Knowledge. - My classes are only for IBDP students taking Biology at an SL/HL level and I offer detailed and valuable feedback on the IA and TOK as well.
