About Ivy

With 8 years of teaching experience in guitar, I’ve worked with students across the world in both online and in-person formats. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance with a focus on Contemporary Styles, which provides a strong foundation for my lessons. My approach is creative, flexible, and rooted in originality. Lessons include composition, arranging, and the art of writing music for guitar. Harmonic concepts, melodic invention, and counterpoint are core parts of the journey. Recording simple demos helps students hear their progress and preserve ideas. I’ve helped beginners gain confidence, intermediates refine skills, and professionals push their artistry further. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s personal goals. I believe in teaching skills that can be applied to real music-making. Learning should be inspiring as well as educational. My goal is always to help students express themselves fully. I warmly welcome you to join me in discovering the joy of creating your own guitar music.

About the lesson

In my guitar teaching, theory is never separate from practice. Scales and modes are shown as tools that open melodic options. Chord construction is taught so learners can understand harmony at its core. Harmonic analysis is introduced as a way to see inside the music. Lessons always connect knowledge to sound on the guitar. I aim to make every concept clear and playable. The Aspiring Rock Star discovers how theory drives improvisation and solos. The Classical Purist gains insight into structure and harmonic depth. I adapt lessons to fit the unique goals of each learner. Improvisation exercises turn theory into fluency. Composition work builds confidence and creativity. Students begin to see theory as a natural part of their voice. Every session is both challenging and supportive. The goal is always to grow as a guitarist and as a musician.
