About Jocelyn

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for over eight years. My academic background provided me with a deep understanding of both performance and pedagogy, which I apply to create lessons that are clear, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s goals. Over my years of teaching, I have worked with students ranging from complete beginners to advanced guitarists preparing for performances. This experience has taught me how to adapt my methods to different learning styles, ensuring that every student feels supported and motivated throughout their musical journey. What inspires me as a tutor is seeing students grow in both skill and creativity. I believe that learning guitar is not only about mastering techniques but also about developing discipline, confidence, and personal expression. My aim is to nurture musicians who enjoy playing and continue learning beyond lessons.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons begin with a focus on essential techniques such as chord progressions, strumming accuracy, and hand positioning. These foundations allow students to play popular songs quickly while gaining confidence. By starting with strong basics, learners build a reliable skill set that prepares them for more advanced musical challenges.

As students progress, lessons move into scales, improvisation, and rhythm development. This stage connects practical playing to theoretical understanding, helping learners recognize patterns, create their own melodies, and expand their musical vocabulary. These skills give students the freedom to explore different genres and develop their own unique style.

Performance practice is also a key element of my teaching approach. Students learn how to control timing, dynamics, and stage presence, preparing them for recitals, exams, or informal performances. My lessons encourage both precision and expression, so students can share their music with confidence and passion.
